Written by a foremost expert in the field, this hands-on, evidence-based guide describes how to conduct a comprehensive forensic neuropsychological evaluation and provide expert testimony. All steps are covered–from selecting, scoring, and interpreting tests to writing reports and responding to cross-examination–with special attention to assessing noncredible performance. The book identifies seven common flaws of forensic neuropsychological reports and shows how to avoid them. Excerpts from testimony transcripts illustrate ways neuropsychologists can protect their reports from attack. Also featured are case illustrations and a sample report.

This review is from: Clinical Practice of Forensic Neuropsychology: An Evidence-Based Approach (Evidence-Based Practice in Neuropsychology) (Hardcover)

Sometimes books like this are not maximally helpful because the author seems timid about taking a stand on issues that we face out in the real world of forensic practice. When authors do this it always reminds me of a rooster taking credit for the dawn by stating the obvious and adding little new to our knowledge base. This book is the opposite of that. Instead, you get intelligent, no-nonsense, to-the-point opinions that are based on the current research. Dr. Boone has clearly taken the time to really think through some of the most important scenarios in forensic NP and then she offers her discerning views on how to navigate these challenges. I highly recommend this book to other neuropsychologists who are striving to improve their forensic game.
