Found out a lot more than expected from reading the deed abstracts, January 5, 2013

The book was amazingly helpful in more ways than just determining ownership of land.

The birth and death dates and places of birth/death of 2 ancestors were not known. There was a record giving power of attorney to a son-in-law. In that record the place of death of the father in law was stated, the record date indicated that the death occurred prior to that date and the current residence of the widow was also stated.

A major clue to the maiden name of the previously mentioned widow was also given in a land transaction where she renounced her dower rights to a piece of land her husband was selling. The previous owner’s name was also listed indicating that he was likely her father.
